Spring Festival

Wigtown's Spring Festival was a huge success with a range of events covering mainly politics and the outdoors, James Naughtie, Zoe Strachan and Alastair Reid joined Willy Maley to discuss their favourite Scottish Book at the Distillery, Wendy Stewart played harp to a full house in The Bookshop, David Stenhouse explained how the Scots are too busy running Westminster to be involved in Scottish politics, and many other well attended events gelled to make the weekend vibrant and illuminating. The Bookshop ended the festivities with a controversial event - we created a fire sculpture to celebrate the Beltane Fire Festival using damaged and unsellable books which would normally have gone to landfill to raise awareness of the issue of the lack of book recycling facilities in the area.
