Delivery, Returns & Payment

Payment

When you purchase and pay for a book your payment will be on hold and will not be taken until your book is ready to be despatched.

Due to some of our stock being in the shop there is a small chance that a shop customer might have moved a book to a new location which, in a big shop, can make it difficult to find or even bought the book you have ordered in the shop before we have had time to remove it from our website. You will always receive an email updating the status of your order.

Delivery

Our aim is to despatch orders within 24 hours of completion of your order Monday – Friday but if we are busy in the shop this can take slightly longer.

Orders placed on a Friday will be despatched on the following Monday.

Postage Charges

UK – £3 per order (Large sets of books may incur additional charges). If a vatable item is order, ie a bag, VAT will also be added to the postage.

Rest of the World – £8.50 per item ordered.

EU Customers – £8.50 + VAT rate for your country per item. If you purchase an item which is charged at standard VAT ie The Book Shop Bags the standard VAT will also be added to the total postage. If ordering books and a bag it would be best to order them in separate orders as standard VAT will be charge for the full postage amount rather than the reduced rate charged when only books are ordered.

Heavier books destined to locations out-with the UK may incur additional postage fees. You will be emailed with an accurate quote for postage for your order and when agreed and the extra postage paid your order will be despatched. If you do not wish to pay any extra postage your order will be cancelled with no charges.

European customers we now have an IOSS number which means orders below the value of £126/150 euros including postage will be send with import duty paid so customers will have no import duty or handling charges to pay to receive their order. Orders over this value will still need to be sent duty unpaid so please check for import taxes and handling fees before ordering. If you wish to order more than one book which takes it over this value please make two separate orders.

Returns

Returns are accepted if the condition of the book is not as described on the website.

A returns authorisation must be obtained before returning any books. Please email to request this.

Any books must be returned within seven days in the same condition as they were despatched, without having been read or copied in any form.

A refund will be issued once the authorised book has been received.
